One of the UK’s oldest charities, the St John’s Foundation has supported the community in Bath and North-East Somerset for almost 850 years. Their work supports those under-served by society and focuses on delivering lasting social change inspired by our purpose of Changing lives. For good.
St John’s is – and always has been – in many ways a thought leader and pioneer in its field. Its mission is to challenge the status quo, identify where systems in society are broken or failing and seek solutions to repair them. In order to extend the reach and social impact of their charitable work, they strive to share experience and learning with like-minded organisations.
St John’s Foundation is now seeking two new trustees to join its Board to help achieve its ambition. The diversity of the trustee Board enhances the vibrancy of their work and enables them to think broadly about how they can create the greatest impact for those they serve. The ability to maximise impact relies upon the expert financial management of their assets of over £100m. Their Investment Committee comprises trustees who can work with the Chair, Chief Executive and team and provide oversight and guidance to ensure they can realise the true potential of their assets.
In one of the new trustees, they are looking for someone who brings experience of investment management across a broad portfolio whose insights can help in investment decisions as well as contributing to the overall governance of the charity. In the other, they are looking for an entrepreneurial and commercial leader who will Chair the trading company in addition to being a full board member of the Foundation.
Non-executive experience is not essential for these roles. What is, is to find people who are excited by their ambition, who share their values and who bring the skills and experiences to enable them to deliver impact for those communities in BaNES who need it the most.
