THE ROLE

This is a critical role that will lead the delivery of Lewisham’s significant strategic transport and highways ambitions. These include leading the campaign to bring the Bakerloo line extension to Lewisham, Levelling Up Fund improvements to Lewisham Town Centre and working with TfL and other partners on the A205 road realignment. This and more will play a key role in supporting the Catford regeneration project, which will be known as the greenest town centre in London.

You will manage the borough’s highways network through modern and sustainable methods, and deliver forward thinking transport, cycling and walking schemes. A key priority will be to support delivery of the climate action plan outcomes, working collaboratively with colleagues and partners, and review how the service should develop to deliver an ambitious active travel programme, reduce congestion, and improve air quality.

Lewisham are looking for a creative and ambitious transport and highways expert to lead this critical area. You will be innovative and challenge the norm to drive transformation and modernise the service. In return you will be given the freedom and support to push the boundaries to deliver the best outcomes for Lewisham’s communities.
