Leukaemia UK is the research charity dedicated to saving and improving the live of those who receive a leukaemia diagnosis, through funding world class research and ground-breaking care. Since 2015, we have funded over £7 million worth of research and care up and down the UK, pushing boundaries to develop kinder and more effective treatments for leukaemia.
The Role
We’re now at a pivotal moment in our charity’s development, poised for a step change in our impact and influence. Over the last two years we’ve completed a major programme of work to build one strong and thriving charity from the roots of two original organisations. We’ve appointed a new Chief Executive and we’ve reviewed the priorities, skills and diversity mix of our Trustee team. In summer 2022 we will be launching our new brand and strategy.
We’re therefore looking for up to five talented and engaged Trustees who will be able to contribute in a new era through a diverse range of professional and lived experiences. At this stage of our development, we’re especially interested in Trustees with professional financial expertise, knowledge of income generation and commercial development, medical research or clinical practice (especially within the field of leukaemia and blood cancer), marketing communications, and HR & OD expertise.
We welcome applications from people who have lived experience of blood cancers, even if they come from different professional backgrounds. We’re also deeply committed to broadening the range of backgrounds on the Board in all dimensions and welcome candidates from all walks of life who have an interest in our work and the expertise to help shape our success.
Our work is positively life-changing. We’re compassionate, rigorous and detailed in our approach and determined to accelerate progress. Our work pushes boundaries to develop kinder and more effective treatments. The quality and range of people on our Board, as well as our Board’s leadership, is critical if we are to achieve our ambitious priorities on behalf of the increasing numbers of people living with leukaemia and those around them.
