With a population of just under 1.2 million, Hertfordshire is a county full of contrasts which blend together to create a superb quality of life for residents and visitors. We have a strong and diverse economy where thriving modern towns have developed amongst historic market towns and picturesque villages.
We are currently seeking to appoint a new Director of Public Health who will provide strategic leadership and direction for the continuous development of services to improve the health and wellbeing of Hertfordshire residents. This will include driving down health inequalities and improving outcomes for some of the most vulnerable in our communities, a focus on prevention, and protecting our population from public health hazards.
Public Health is now part of the Community Protection directorate. You will contribute to the overall leadership of the directorate and, as a member of the Joint Leadership Team, contribute broadly to the development and operation of the Council through effective corporate working. You will also lead a Public Health team of around 150 people through a period of transition and bring clarity on how the team will operate as part of this new environment.
A key part of your role will be forging strong working relationships with other HCC directorates and partners across the wider system including our Integrated Care Board (ICB), the VCSE sector and other private and public sector organisations.
