Interim Head of Culture and Leisure

Starfish Search are working with a local authority in London to recruit an Interim Head of Culture and Leisure. This role reports into the Assistant Director for Contracts and Leisure, and is responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of services associated with Sports, Parks, Arts, and the Ground Management of Cemeteries.
THE ROLE
You Will:
- Be responsible for the consistent delivery of high quality, efficient and effective services
- Ensure that commissioning, market testing and contract management of service processes are in place for Cultural services, and operating to all required standards.
- Develop and manage programmes for the timely re-procurement of relevant contracts and commissioned services
- Manage the Leisure Contract, liaise with contractors, and assist in the overall management of the Contracts and Leisure division
- Provide clear strategic planning, and be the Council’s principal advisor on services within the Culture portfolio
- Provide strategic, operational and motivational leadership of staff, and present clear recommendations and advice to Cabinet, other Committees and to individual Members
You Will Have:
- Knowledge and experience of how to manage an efficient, cost effective, customer focused service
- A track record of successful resource management, and experience of setting, managing and controlling substantial and complex budgets, and procurement of services
- Experience of strategically leading, developing and motivating staff to improve service delivery
- Experience at a senior level in the provision of public services, preferably at head of service level within a local authority
This role is running for a period of approximately three months. It is a full-time, hybrid role with an expected 2 – 3 days in office.
