We recently celebrated our 190th anniversary and launched a new 10-year strategy. The organisation may be long standing but we don’t stand still; we are a modern charity looking for a strategic thinker who is interested in why people connect to science but also understands the barriers that get in the way of people and communities engaging with science. Our vision is a future where science is more relevant, representative and connected to society and as well as running inspiring programmes we convene scientists, policymakers, business and community influencers to contribute thought leadership to ensure science remains relevant in today’s world.
You don’t need to be a scientist to be our next Chair, but you must be passionate about the value science can bring to society.
Now is an exciting time to join the British Science Association as Chair. We need a collaborative and inclusive leader with experience of chairing who will help increase our influence and impact and ensure that we engage with new communities across the UK and will demonstrate the ability to constructively challenge and unify a board behind a vision.
You could come from within the private, public or third sector anywhere across the UK, but you must understand how to operate within a charity setting. You will possess high integrity and demonstrate a very real commitment to equity and inclusion. We are committed to widening diversity across the organisation and we actively welcome applications from disabled people and those from underrepresented and diverse communities and backgrounds to help us achieve our strategy.
