Our vision for Mansfield is clear. Our aim is to “grow an ambitious, vibrant and confident place”, based upon four cross cutting themes covering place, aspiration, growth, and wellbeing. Mansfield has plenty to be proud of including a strong industrial heritage, good housing and economic growth, supportive and resilient communities, and award-winning parks and green spaces. We are also determined to play a key role in the emerging devolution plans for Nottinghamshire which will boost economic investment, improve the environment, and tackle health and educational inequalities across the county. However, we also know that challenges remain for Mansfield, particularly the need to narrow longstanding ‘gaps’ in terms of health and prosperity, and it is vital that local people are able to take advantage of the changes and opportunities ahead.
At this important juncture, it is critical that we have a chief executive who can fully grasp these opportunities and work collaboratively with our Elected Mayor, employees and partners to develop our strategic approach, help transform the council, and deliver real outcomes for local people.
We are therefore seeking candidates who are ‘can do’, focused on delivery, able to develop strong partnerships across sectors, and who have the leadership skills to nurture a collaborative culture within the council.
