Executive Director Community and Children’s Services
Thank you for your interest in coming to work for the City of London. It is completely different from any other London local authority and offers opportunities to do some fascinating work alongside leadership of the key service areas provided to residents and workers in the City of London, also known as the Square Mile.
You will be responsible for a broad range of services: children’s, adults, housing, education, libraries and public health, which is led by the London Borough of Hackney. Each of these departments is much smaller than you would usually find in a local authority but each brings the same challenge and reward. Leading such a broad range of services is interesting and varied and will keep you busy and stimulated. But there is much more …………….
The City of London takes a lead role across the capital and provides a role in strengthening connections and capacity across London. Its reach extends beyond the boundaries of the Square Mile and stretches across private, public and voluntary sector. It provides funding and development in a number of areas including the City of London Multi-Academy Trust which has 10 schools in other boroughs including one in the City.
The Destination City initiative launched in May 2022 aims to transform the Square Mile’s leisure and cultural offer, creating a leading destination for UK and international visitors, workers, and residents to enjoy. You will have a crucial role in opening up the City to children across London, allowing them to enjoy and learn from the rich history and classic and modern architecture on our doorstep.
We are looking for candidates who can take on this broad challenge and will come with positive energy and enthusiasm for this unique role.
