Arun is one of the hidden gems of the south coast – bordering the South Downs and featuring many miles of beautiful coastline as well as a number of vibrant towns, parishes and villages. We are within easy reach of Brighton and Portsmouth and less than two hours from London, which means we are a great location for people who want good accessibility as well as a fantastic quality of life
THE ROLE
The council is striving for excellence and is hugely ambitious for its communities, and with a new administration and Leader in place since May 2023, we are now seeking to appoint a Chief Executive to help us deliver our vision for Arun. With pockets of deprivation alongside more affluent communities, and a strong but seasonal tourist economy, the council has a clear focus on improving the wellbeing of residents, protecting our wonderful environment, developing the economy, and delivering the right homes in the right places. Specific opportunities include the £20m regeneration of Littlehampton and Bognor Regis and the development of the new Local Plan, and of course like all authorities we know we need to manage our budgets effectively and develop new income streams in light of the funding challenges which are impacting the sector.
Our next Chief Executive will therefore need to have the skills and experience to work with Members, colleagues and partners to ensure that Arun has the structure, people and approach it needs to tackle the challenges and opportunities ahead. We are confident about the future and clear in our ambition – and we want a Chief Executive who can match it and deliver for the residents of Arun.
