St John has been providing first aid and first aid training for over 140 years. However, our enduring story goes all the way back to the 11th century, where the first Knights of St John set up a hospital in Jerusalem to provide free medical care to sick pilgrims.

THE ROLE

The Chief Operating Officer will bring deep expertise, drive and energy to directing operational efficiency, performance and growth across the Charity, in line with the HEART values and charitable mission. A key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the post holder will ensure future profitability of the Charity and manage overall business efficiency, with direct accountability for the smooth running and day to day efficient operations, including P&L, of the Urgent and Emergency Care (U&EC), Events and Training and Supplies businesses. 

You will also provide strategic leadership and direction to the Clinical Operations Network incorporating Ambulance Operations, First Aid and Event Volunteering, Clinical and Operations Support functions (Property, Facilities, Logistics, Fleet and Health and Safety) and the Enterprise Network which comprises Sales & Business Development, Customer Services, Workplace Training, Supplies, Educational Product Development and Marketing/E-Commerce and CRM; ensuring a compelling vision and clear strategic direction for these networks, and cultivating a positive, inclusive, high performance culture where individuals, volunteer and employee, can thrive.
