Starfish Search are supporting a local authority in the South of England to recruit an Interim Strategic Director – Place Services. This key strategic role will provide clear, authentic, and inspirational leadership to a range of services and teams as well as deputising for the Chief Executive.
THE ROLE
You Will:
- Determine priorities and direction, ensuring the development of effective strategies and policies that sustain the overall objectives of the Council.
- Assume Council wide responsibility for the initiation, management and implementation of corporate initiatives/projects as required by the Chief Executive
- Ensure targets, particularly those related to the Council’s Corporate Plan, are regularly reviewed, considering Service standards and budgets
- Lead on the development of relationships and partnerships with other public, private, and voluntary sector organisations
- Lead on the delivery of a group of services/teams, ensuring that agreed outcomes are being achieved through effective management against key performance measures
You Will Have:
- A successful and substantial track record of achievement and managing change in a large and challenging organisation at a senior level.
- Evidence of contributing successfully to corporate decision making and development of corporate policy and strategy
- Evidence of a sound knowledge relating to legal, financial, and political workings of local government
- Experience of providing direct advice to elected Members or members of a board
- Extensive knowledge and experience of inward investment, economic development, infrastructure, programme delivery, planning, development management and building control, environment and street scene, sustainability, waste collection and recycling, community, leisure and culture and youth, citizenship, and community engagement.
