Interim Head of Finance

Starfish Search are working with a local authority in London to recruit an Interim Head of Finance. The role will be responsible for the Council’s Capital Programme Corporate Function and Treasury Management area with a team of 10 people.
THE ROLE
You Will:
- Provide high-quality financial accounting, strategic management accounting, budgeting and financial planning and commercial advice
- Work with colleagues on the Senior Management Team, and make a proactive contribution delivering departmental and corporate objectives
- Provide high quality professional financial advice in fiscal planning and budgeting and play a leading role in developing cost-cutting programmes
- Ensure that statutory and managerial financial reporting obligations are consistently met to agreed professional standards
- Development and implementation of the Council’s Capital, Investment and Treasury Management Strategy
You Will Have:
- A track record of achievement at a management level in a similarly large and complex organisation, ideally within local government
- Proven experience of working effectively and building strong relationships with senior managers, partners, contractors or Trustees
- Demonstrable experience of advising on financial planning, accounting and control, including applying complex techniques to influence and improve decision making
- Track record of implementing business process transformation projects
- The ability to deputise for the statutory Chief Finance Officer (s151)
- CCAB Qualified Accountant (Preferably CIPFA), with significant post qualification experience and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
This role reports into the Deputy Director. It is a hybrid role running for a period of 6-months, with a day-rate of £650.
