Interim Director of Highways and Transport

Starfish Search are working with a local authority in the Southeast of England to recruit an Interim Director of Highways and Transportation. The focus of this role is developing and delivering an ambitious highways and transport strategy. They are looking for a leader who can take a commercial and innovative approach to how they maintain and develop their highways and transportation infrastructure.
You Will:
- Act as the Authority’s principal adviser and lead on highways, transportation and engineering issues and be responsible for all aspects of the delivery strategy for services
- Be reasonable in delivering significant programmes of work and associated projects in the themes of highways and transport infrastructure
- Provide strategic support to the Sustainable Growth agenda and ensure alignment of work programmes across the directorates
- Work in partnership with private sector contractor, district, borough and city councils and national infrastructure bodies.
You Will Have:
- Proven track record of client management in a large commercial contract in transportation or highways.
- A deep understanding, gained through significant experience, in developing solutions to deliver value for money services in a relevant service/functional area.
- Experience and ability to operate at the most senior level with stakeholders, supply chains and partners to operate, negotiate, agree and deliver appropriate commercial structures which incentivise delivery, including dispute resolution.
This role reports into the Executive Director and will be running for a period of 10 months. The authority works to a flexible hybrid policy.
