Interim Director of Communities

Starfish Search are working with a local authority in London to recruit an Interim Director of Communities. This role has oversight over Strategy and Partnerships, Community Engagement, Community Safety and Prevent, Communications and Legacy.
THE ROLE
You Will:
- Lead and manage a portfolio of customer focused services in alignment with both corporate and departmental aims and priorities
- Provide leadership and management to the teams within the portfolio of services in order to achieve high performance standards, a culture of continuous improvement and effective operational delivery
- Lead, develop and deliver the Council’s Community Engagement Framework
- Lead on developing and promoting the voluntary and community sector, enterprise and businesses in the community
- Manage staff and budgets in accordance with the Council’s code of conduct, employment policies, financial regulations, procedures and frameworks ensuring value for money in the planning and allocation of resources
You Will Have:
- Knowledge and understanding of local government policy development, decision making, service planning, community engagement, consultation and budget preparation
- Proven track record of achieving and managing cultural and organisational change and of leading improvement across a range of services
- Experience of developing and delivering large scale projects and programmes
- A record of innovative achievements in joint working with partners and stakeholders
- Experience of contributing as part of a senior management team through effective business planning, budget management and performance appraisal
This role reports into the Corporate Director – Communities and Regeneration. It is running for a period of 3 – 6 months, starting in early October.
