Interim Chief Operating Officer

Starfish Search are working with an international think tank to recruit an Interim Chief Operating Officer. The post holder will also operate as Chief Finance Officer, covering finance; IT and cybersecurity; risk and compliance; operations (facilities and governance); people and events.

THE ROLE

You Will:

  • Take a central role in shaping the Institute’s strategy and its delivery
  • Help the Institute achieve the financial goal of an annual surplus and growing free reserves.
  • Oversee the management of risk at the Institute
  • Ensure the Institute’s governance and compliance processes are robust and fit for purpose
  • With other members of the SMT, continue to develop the Institute’s business model and be responsible for ensuring that the model is implemented through the bids and proposals submitted by the research teams

 

You Will Have:

  • A track record as an experienced CFO, Finance Director or Chief Operating Officer, within a non-profit organisation.
  • Evidence of having effectively and actively managed a finance function within a complex environment
  • Evidence of having added value in operational delivery beyond finance in a complex organisation and of managing and developing IT infrastructure to improve business processes
  • A background in the charity sector and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the charity operates
  • An MBA, or be a Qualified Accountant

 

This role is running for a period of 5-6 months whilst we recruit for the permanent position. It is a hybrid role with 2 days/week in office, in Westminster. The salary is up to £125k pro rata and they will consider day-rates. Experience within a non-profit organisation is essential to understanding the governance function of the Institute.
