Chief Executive

Harborough District Council
£110,928 to £118,744 (pay award pending)
Hackney

Harborough District, in rural South Leicestershire, is a wonderful place to live, to work, to invest in and to visit, with around 98,000 residents and covering 228 square miles. We have two historic market towns alongside farms and fields, larger villages and smaller rural settlements. Around 100 parishes contribute to a real sense of local identity and pride.

THE ROLE

We have a long history of serving and supporting our residents, working with them to build a future for the people of the district that gives them the best life chances and opportunities.  We will continue do this by developing community leadership to create a sense of pride in our place; promoting health and wellbeing and encouraging healthy life choices; creating a sustainable environment to protect future generations; and supporting businesses and residents to deliver a prosperous local economy.

The council is led by a new administration, built on collaboration, with exciting new plans for the whole district.  We are seeking a new chief executive to take us on the next step on this journey, working with us to deliver our vision for the communities we serve. We already have great engagement with residents which shape the places they live, as our 30 neighbourhood plans show. We want to build on this to ensure that the voice of those communities is reflected in the services we deliver and that they shape our priorities.   Our history is wonderful, our future exciting!

We are therefore seeking candidates with the vision, energy and experience to support the new administration and develop a strong corporate team.  This is a great opportunity for someone to really make their mark on the organisation and indeed across the wider district.
