Executive Director of Children’s Services

Cheshire East Council
Salary £131,208 to £148,823
Hackney

Cheshire East is a big borough with huge potential.  Home to 400,000 people – it’s a place with fantastic assets, great connectivity and serious economic clout.  With a new Chief Executive, Leader and Deputy Leader appointed in 2024, the council is embarking on a major reset to ensure our financial sustainability and protect essential services – creating a council that is fit for the future and that can continue to deliver our ambitions for the borough.

THE ROLE

In November 2024 we embarked on our first round of senior appointments, and we are now pleased to move forward with our second tranche of recruitment.  This includes the Executive Director for Children’s Services, and we are seeking an inspirational leader who will help deliver the transformation of children’s services following our inadequate Ofsted judgement in Spring 2024.

We have already made good progress, although there is more to do to ensure the quality of practice and the outcomes for vulnerable children are at the highest levels.  We have a detailed improvement plan and the support of a highly experienced Improvement and Impact Board, and together we know we will emerge stronger and with the ability to offer our communities the excellent services and support they deserve.
