The Business Banking Resolution Service (BBRS) is a new industry-funded voluntary dispute resolution service that is being set up to resolve historic and future disputes between SMEs and participating providers of banking services. The Service will reach fair and reasonable determinations on an independent basis and without the need for litigation. It will become a trusted and independent partner to eligible SME customers and banks in restoring mutual trust between the parties and will ensure the highest quality standards. To lead the establishment of the Service, we are now looking for an outstanding chairperson and three independent non-executive directors.
As Chairperson you will work in close collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Adjudication Officer (CAO) to oversee delivery of the Service, support its public profile as figurehead, and offer vital scrutiny and support to the Service and its executive team. The role requires strong strategic leadership and ambassadorial qualities and you will be an exemplar of the values that underpin the Service. It is likely that you will already have a reputation for leading or overseeing a similarly complex organisation. As non-executive director, you will already have held senior, strategic and influential roles and will bring an understanding of customer service, and of SMEs as relevant to the aims of the Service; you will be financially literate.
All four appointments require individuals of considerable stature who have an exceptional record of achievement in their field. Already experienced in managing high-level stakeholder relationships, you will be comfortable representing the Service in an ambassadorial capacity to different audiences. You may have been involved with the leadership and governance of non-departmental public bodies, regulators, professional standards bodies, ombudsman or ADR schemes, or you may have held leadership roles in utility companies, or wider regulated industry. Prior board experience is essential.
Whatever your background, you will bring independence, sound judgement and undisputed personal integrity. You will also demonstrate the personal flexibility needed to support a new start-up and oversee its development into a leading ADR service. You will be an outstanding team player.
