Bristol is an ambitious, global and diverse city and the City Council is committed to building a better Bristol that includes everyone in the city’s success. One of our key strategic aims for the coming years is to focus on homes and communities and ensure the affordability, availability, diversity and sustainability of housing for all. This includes accelerating home-building in the city, building and retaining new social housing, providing more supported housing, and Bristol becoming a Living Rent City. The Council owns a sizable housing stock of 28,000 but we know that much of this needs to be modernised and upgraded, and we also need to deliver a more customer-focused and proactive service to our tenants and residents.
We are currently seeking to appoint a Director for Homes and Landlord Services to lead this vital area, reporting to the Executive Director for Growth and Regeneration. With over 1,000 staff, this is a significant department which covers estate services, housing repairs and maintenance, private housing, accessible homes and housing options.
Given the challenges and opportunities facing the City and the housing service, we are looking for a Director who can bring pace and determination to the role, working closely with Members and tenant groups to develop a proactive culture, drive improvements in the quality of the stock, and respond to the needs and ambitions of our residents. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of an iconic City and deliver a housing service that will enable our communities to thrive.
