Wyre is a borough that shows the best of Lancashire. We are located on the coast, with Preston, Blackpool and the Lake District nearby and home to picturesque towns including Fleetwood, Garstang, Poulton-le-Fylde and Thornton Cleveleys, as well as many beautiful rural villages. Wyre welcomed over 4.4 million visitors in 2023 – and it is easy to see why. The borough boasts a rich heritage, with historic high streets and bustling markets, mouth-watering local food and quality accommodation and a calendar filled with brilliant events. On one side you’ll find stunning award-winning beaches with unspoilt coastlines, and on the other unforgettable landscapes in the Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
This is a really exciting time to join Wyre Council, with a new Leader and Chief Executive leading the our next chapter. We have a brand new and ambitious Council Plan with a clear vision: ‘Wyre is a place where everyone can prosper’, and across the council our staff strive to achieve this for businesses and residents within the borough.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate to take on a newly created role of Director of Transformation and Change. Building on strong foundations, you will lead the development and implementation of a transformation and change programme for the council and help to further improve the excellent services we provide to our residents and businesses, as well as attract more visitors to Wyre.
You will shape a new team and work across all areas of the council, developing innovative systems and approaches. The role manages a wide array of services including Transformation, Policy and Performance, Communications and Visitor Economy, Economic Development, the Contact Centre, ICT and Systems, HR and OD, and Commercial Services, giving the Director the chance to have a significant impact on how Wyre Council operates and how it delivers its services.
Reporting to the Chief Executive and as part of the CMT, you will need to be a strong systems thinker, with a track record of delivering change in a complex, customer-facing organisation and developing productive relationships with colleagues. Above all, we are seeking candidates who understand how to translate policy into practice – resulting in positive tangible outcomes for the council and above all for our communities.
