Head of Communications, Policy and Engagement

Haringey Council
Up to £95,000
Hackney

Haringey embodies the very best of London—diversity, heritage, culture, and opportunity. This is an exciting time for our borough, and we are ambitious about creating a brighter future for our communities.

THE ROLE

We are immensely proud of the progress we’ve made in Haringey. In 2023, we achieved our first Ofsted ‘Good’ rating for Children’s Services—a milestone we’ve worked toward for years. An impressive 98% of our schools are rated Good or Outstanding, and we rank 5th in London and 8th nationally for strong educational development. Our investment in housing is transforming both existing homes and creating new developments, and our commitment to creativity and culture has secured our place as London Borough of Culture 2027.

However, like many local authorities, we are navigating significant financial challenges. That’s why this newly created leadership role is so crucial.

We’re looking for an exceptional senior communications, policy and engagement professional to help us tell our story, whether that means shining a light on all the great things happening here, developing high impact campaigns, or lobbying to ensure Haringey’s voice is heard in crowded policy spaces.

You will lead and develop first-class resident participation and engagement strategies and further our work with communities as part of the ‘Haringey Deal’.

As our Head of Communications, Policy and Engagement, you will also play a critical advisory role, working closely with the corporate management team, the Leader, and elected members—navigating the complexities of a dynamic political environment with confidence and strategic insight.

If you’re ready to make a real impact in one of London’s most ambitious boroughs, we’d love to hear from you.
