The National Lottery Community Fund (the Fund) raises millions of pounds a week for good causes, funding projects and activities that transform communities and enrich lives as the largest single source of funding for community activities in the UK. We’re One Fund based in communities in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and our work reflects the diversity of the UK. We support activities that create resilient communities that are more inclusive and environmentally sustainable – activities that will strengthen society and improve lives.

THE ROLE

The Fund wishes to appoint an external independent member to serve on its Audit & Risk Committee. The Committee is charged with ensuring that the Board and Accounting Officer gain the assurance they need on risk management, governance and internal controls and therefore needs a range of skills and experience relevant to these aspects. Because of the importance of financial management and financial reporting, candidates should have recent and relevant financial experience.

This is an exciting time to join the Fund’s Audit and Risk Committee. We are proud to support the Executive and wider organisation in the delivery of The National Lottery Community Fund’s It starts with community strategy to 2030, at a time of optimistic change and growth as we deliver our ambitious new plans. We are looking for a Committee Member who will bring their skills, knowledge and experience to support the Board and Accounting Officer in their responsibilities of risk, control and governance and associated assurance. 

You will ideally be someone with strong finance, audit and risk experience at a senior level, unimpeachable integrity, a maturity of judgment as well as a strong commitment to the values of our organisation. We want to ensure any appointee is committed to promoting diversity, in its broadest possible sense.
