The borough of Rochdale is a diverse and vibrant part of Greater Manchester and home to around 242,000 residents across Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton and a number of Pennine villages.
Adult social care in the borough of Rochdale is in a strong position, with a positive CQC outcome expected and a track record of sound financial management and effective partnership working built under the current leadership team. We want to build on those foundations and are looking for leaders who see this as an opportunity to shape what comes next.
The Deputy Director of Adult Social Services is a qualified social worker role. As Deputy DASS, you will provide day-to-day operational leadership across the service, enabling the incoming Director to focus on system-level priorities, partnership influence and strategic direction. You will deputise for the DASS in the delivery of their democratic roles and functions at place, within Greater Manchester and across the North West region.
You will lead operational delivery across the core adult social care functions, ensuring quality, performance and safeguarding standards are maintained and improved. You will play a key role in progressing the redesign of adult social care, aligning specialist services with the Local Care Organisation and council priorities and embedding a neighbourhood approach across the borough’s townships. You will also help shape the all-age neighbourhood programme, bringing together prevention and early intervention within a strengths-based approach to social care practice.
Political awareness will be important. You will need to build trust and credibility with elected members, support decision-making and work closely with lead members to ensure the transformation programme translates into improved outcomes for residents. You will also work collaboratively with GM NHS ICB directors to continue redesigning services at place, fostering new ways of working and strengthening integration across health and social care.
