Chief Executive

London Borough of Lambeth
London
Circa £200,000
Hackney

Lambeth is a borough with social justice at its heart. As one of the most diverse, welcoming, and inclusive boroughs in the country, we want to harness the power and pride of our people and our partnerships to tackle inequalities and ensure that everybody thrives.

We know that radical change and reform is required to make that happen both locally and nationally. We are open and realistic about the journey we’re on to work better together and improve core services, all within the current financial context the sector is facing. But we’re confident we can deliver. A passion for Lambeth and our communities runs deeply through the veins of our organisation. Many of our staff are residents and they are proud to work alongside an increasingly diverse senior leadership team and champion Lambeth’s communities.

THE ROLE

For someone eager to make their mark on local government, there are few roles as exciting as chief executive of Lambeth Council.  This is a chance to make a genuine and lasting difference to the lives of our residents by addressing some of the most profound social challenges that our country as a whole has to face.  So much of what we do as a council is about facing down the disadvantages and inequalities of our residents’ lives.

And the borough plan Lambeth 2030: Our Future, Our Lambeth goes straight to the heart of what the council represents, how it defines itself and its ambition for the borough – specifically a cast iron commitment to equity and justice. The chief executive role offers a unique opportunity for someone with experience of delivering real change to come in and help the council achieve this commitment.

Our next chief executive will be bold and pioneering but most importantly they will share our values and our ambition to reshape our neighbourhoods, make Lambeth safer and a place we can all call home.  If you are a local government leader who is committed to delivering change in public services, excels at place leadership, and has an unwavering commitment to empowering residents and staff, we want to hear from you.
