Starfish Search are working with a non-profit organisation to recruit an Interim Director of Policy & Communications. The focus of this role is to provide strategic leadership to the newly formed Policy & Communications Directorate. Developing their brand and reputation, enhancing their reach and relevance, and strengthening their influence with decision makers to deliver meaningful change in policy, practice and culture.
THE ROLE
You Will:
- Shape the overall strategic direction and effectiveness of the charity as part of a collaborative Senior Leadership team, working closely with Trustees and staff to strengthen impact, effectiveness, culture and sustainability.
- Develop and lead strategies to bring about positive social change through influencing policy, mobilising social action, building partnerships and changing public narratives and understanding.
- Lead internal communications and engagement so that everyone feels part of their plans and progress as an organisation.
- Act as a media and public spokesperson for the charity and represent them at meetings with senior politicians, advisers and civil servants.
- Identify, develop and support strategic campaign partnerships or stakeholder relationships.
You Will Have:
- Significant experience working as part of a senior leadership team to influence policy, media and public debate to achieve social change.
- Experience of leading and managing successful public facing campaigns.
- Experience of leading creation of content with and for end users with lived experience.
- Experience of leading and developing brands and organisational profile, including handling sensitive reputational issues and in periods of change.
- Knowledge of charity governance, legal and regulatory practices.
It is a hybrid role offering a salary of c.£80,000 pro rata to 4 days/week (c.£64,000)
