Starfish are supporting a Midlands-based Local Authority to recruit an Interim Director of Policy and External Affairs for approximately 6-months. In this crucial role, the selected candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive and play a pivotal role in developing a more strategic approach to keeping staff, stakeholders, and the public informed about the challenging issues facing the council.
The primary responsibility of this role is to translate the Council’s strategic vision, values, and priorities into clear and practical messages. The incumbent will actively participate in promoting the city’s strengths and reputation to support additional private and public sector investment.
Additionally, the Interim Director will be instrumental in influencing policy, managing the council’s reputation, and fostering engagement both internally and externally. This multifaceted position involves actively contributing to the promotion of the city’s positive aspects while ensuring effective communication of the council’s strategic direction.
