Starfish Search is working with a well-established homelessness charity in seeking an Interim Chief Executive. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity to provide strategic direction, maintain momentum, and support the organisation through a period of transition.
THE ROLE
You will:
- Lead the organisation in delivering its mission, values, and services that tackle the root causes of homelessness.
- Shape and oversee strategic priorities, ensuring clear alignment between operations and long-term goals.
- Provide confident leadership to the senior management team, motivating staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality, person-centred services.
- Take overall responsibility for the financial sustainability of the charity, ensuring sound governance, compliance, and accountability.
- Oversee the charity’s property portfolio and development opportunities, supporting diversification of income and long-term resilience.
- Represent the charity externally, building partnerships, enhancing reputation, and influencing key stakeholders at local and national level.
- Work closely with the Board of Trustees to provide advice, insight, and recommendations on governance, operations, and business development.
You will have:
- A proven track record of strategic leadership at senior level, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience in financial oversight, business planning, and income diversification.
- Experience of overseeing property and/or development at a strategic level.
- Excellent governance knowledge and ability to work effectively with Boards of Trustees.
- A collaborative leadership style, able to inspire, motivate, and empower teams.
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with credibility to represent the charity to stakeholders, partners, and the media.
- A values-driven approach, with commitment to social justice and tackling homelessness.
This role is running for a period of 6-9 months and offers a salary of c.£95,000.
This role is based in London, with the expectation that the successful candidate will be on-site 3/4 days per week.
