Herefordshire Council provides a high quality Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) service, working closely with our children and young people, health partners and schools to ensure that everyone gets a great start in life and grows up healthy, happy and safe. We are currently seeking a Head of SEND who can offer outstanding strategic leadership to what is a stable and strong team of colleagues with high levels of expertise.
It is an exciting time to join the service. We are about to launch our new SEND strategy for 2023-26 and we have also been chosen by the DfE to pilot some aspects of the forthcoming SEND reforms. We also know that as a large rural authority, we need to work even harder to ensure that all our children and young people get access to the support they need. More broadly, children’s services in Herefordshire is on a journey and we are seeking candidates to help lead and influence as we develop and improve. This is a unique opportunity to have a genuine impact on the local authority, the wider partnerships and communities, as well as enable our children and young people to reach their full potential.
The role reports into our Director for Education, Skills and Learning, and we are seeking candidates with senior experience, knowledge, talent and proven success in a local authority SEND environment, who are able to inspire and work effectively as a senior leader and manager.
