Dudley is entering an important new chapter. We are a borough with proud communities, strong partnerships and significant ambition, and we are determined to build a council that is financially resilient, well governed, modern and focused on delivering better outcomes for our residents.
As Associate Director – Financial Management and Deputy Section 151 Officer, you will play a critical role in strengthening the Council’s financial resilience and supporting its wider recovery and transformation agenda. You will ensure that robust financial management, high-quality insight and effective business partnering are at the heart of decision-making, aligning resources with the Council’s priorities and the needs of residents, businesses and communities.
This is far more than a traditional finance leadership role. You will operate across the organisation to drive modernisation of the finance function, embed a culture of value for money and continuous improvement, and ensure finance is a proactive enabler of change. Working at the centre of the Council’s new operating model, you will help deliver sustainable budgets, improve financial performance, and support the delivery of transformation at pace.
We are seeking an outstanding leader with the professional credibility, judgement and drive to operate successfully in a complex and evolving environment. You will bring the ability to lead high-performing teams, influence at senior levels, and navigate financial challenge with confidence and integrity. Above all, you will ensure that finance is not simply a control function, but a strategic partner that underpins delivery, transformation and long-term sustainability.
