Stoke is an ambitious council, one with a motivated workforce and a clear sense of direction. Our adult social care services have been assessed as Good by CQC, and that reflects genuine commitment and hard work from the team. With the recent appointment of Nichola Thompson as our new Corporate Director of Adult Social Care and All Age Commissioning, we want to be ambitious about where we go from here. We are focused on supporting people to live independently, on strengthening the neighbourhood approach and on building partnerships that make a real difference to residents’ lives.
We are looking for a social work qualified Director of Adult Social Care to work alongside our newly appointed Corporate Director, Nichola Thompson, to lead us through the next stage of our journey within adult social care. You will lead operational delivery across safeguarding, prevention, neighbourhood health and care, hospital pathways and provider services, and you will set the standard for quality and performance right across the system.
You will provide informed advice to senior leaders and elected members on strategic matters, and work closely with NHS partners to strengthen integrated health and care services. The role requires someone who can lead business and service transformation, build effective strategic partnerships and deliver high standards in performance and inspection outcomes. You will also ensure robust safeguarding arrangements are in place and that resources are managed effectively to meet strategic objectives.
If you are a highly experienced leader with the values, the professional grounding and the ambition to help shape what comes next for adult social care in Stoke-on-Trent, we’d love to hear from you.
