Director of Fundraising

Chatham House
London with Hybrid
£100,000 - £120,000 per annum

Chatham House has been a source of independent analysis, trusted dialogue and influential ideas for more than one hundred years. In the immediate aftermath of the First World War, our founders pioneered the concept of an organisation dedicated to the study of international affairs with the aim of preventing or resolving global problems.. Their vision altered the course of international politics and helped create the international consensus that followed the two world wars. Our history is one of building understanding between nations and driving world-changing policies. We continue to set a high bar to champion solutions. Now in 2024, as before, we are an independent policy institute and a trusted forum for debate and dialogue. Chatham House helps people, societies and governments to understand and adapt to change. In the last century, we have provided thought leadership on the issues that defined the 20th century. We helped craft the multilateral institutions and mechanisms of global financial stability after the Second World War. We gave African independence leaders a platform throughout decolonization. We were key to Anglo-Soviet diplomacy initiatives. Our research influenced China to establish low-carbon economic zones. The world-famous Chatham House Rule has helped foster open dialogue and idea-sharing.

Over the last 100 years we have built a reputation for our analysis – its rigour, relevance, clarity and objectivity. We have a strong heritage of which we are proud and want to face the future with the assurance that we can continue our work. We are a registered charity with a turnover of more than £20m annually, with our income from grants for research projects growing considerably. We aim to expand the raising of unrestricted core funds for the institute too, to secure the long-term prosperity of the institute and enable us to pursue our priorities.

We are now seeking a Director, Fundraising and Partnerships to head our fundraising and partnership team and strengthen the achievements of the organisation, so helping tackle and resolve some of the most urgent challenges of our time. You will have a passion for the work of Chatham House and understand the complexity of its work, be able to represent the institute at the highest levels, articulating vision and purpose in a powerful and compelling way.
