Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here. The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.
Brent Council is looking to appoint a new Independent Chair to play a critical role supporting the Partnership, ensuring that children and young people across Brent are effectively safeguarded.
As Chair you will support, influence and work with our three statutory partners, Brent Council, North West London ICB and the Metropolitan Police Service. You will ensure the partnership thrives and provide an objective and authoritative voice, holding agencies to account in their safeguarding duties to children. We are seeking a Chair with a commitment to overseeing our learning reviews including rapid review, who will personally monitor progression case reviews and attend meetings convened to respond to exceptional circumstances.
You will have extensive experience of chairing strategic partnerships at an executive level, and a sound knowledge of strategic and operational safeguarding. Your depth and breadth of professional experience, clear vision, strong leadership skills and negotiation skills will ensure that your professional challenge provides independent scrutiny to support continuous practice improvement for children and families.
