Starfish Search are supporting a local authority in the North on the appointment of an Interim Head of Commercial Markets, overseeing its commercial markets portfolio alongside bereavement and amenities services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the council’s commercial markets, bereavement and amenities services.
- Oversee complex, multi-site operations, ensuring services are safe, efficient and compliant with statutory requirements.
- Lead teams and manage significant budgets and income streams.
- Drive operational performance, service improvement and effective commercial management.
- Work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across the council to ensure effective service delivery.
About you
- Significant experience in a senior operational leadership role within local government.
- Strong experience managing complex, multi-site services, teams and budgets.
- Experience across markets, commercial operations, bereavement, crematoria, cemeteries or wider amenities services would be particularly relevant.
- Confident managing income-generating services and balancing commercial priorities with statutory responsibilities.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and operational delivery skills.
