Interim Deputy Chief Finance Officer

Starfish Search is supporting a Local Authority in the North of England to appoint an Interim Deputy Chief Finance Officer to play a key role in shaping the financial foundations of a Combined Authority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly financial monitoring and reporting process, ensuring robust financial oversight
- Support the development and delivery of the annual budget setting process
- Provide strategic financial advice across a range of high-profile initiatives, including the establishment of an investment fund
- Support work relating to fiscal devolution and wider financial planning
- Work closely with senior leaders and key partners to embed effective financial governance across the organisation
- Help build finance capability within a newly established organisation, ensuring strong financial management and control
About You:
- Qualified finance professional (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role within Local Government or the wider public sector
- Strong understanding of local government finance, budget setting and financial governance
- Experience supporting organisational growth, transformation or the establishment of new services or organisations
- A hands-on and collaborative leader, comfortable operating in a fast-paced and evolving environment with excellent stakeholder management skills
