Infrastructure Project Director

Lancashire County Council
£77,833 - £85,119
Hackney

Home to 1.5 million residents, more than 55,000 businesses and an economy worth over £40 billion, Lancashire is one of England’s largest and most significant counties. With a Combined County Authority now established and local government reorganisation ahead, there is major investment in transport and infrastructure across the county, and highways and transport will be central to however local government in Lancashire is configured in the years ahead. For a senior leader joining now, this creates a genuine opportunity to shape how these services are designed and delivered within a new structure.

THE ROLE

The Infrastructure Project Director will lead the delivery of the A582 Highway Improvement Scheme and the Lancashire Central programme, acting as Programme Director and Senior Client for a portfolio exceeding £150 million. These projects span different parts of the service and what is needed is one strategic leader to bring it all together. There is a team of project managers and contractors already in place, and you will report to the Director of Highways and Transport.

Working with partners across local and national government, you will oversee major infrastructure programmes that support growth and improve connectivity across Lancashire. You will also work closely with elected members, keeping them properly briefed on progress, risks and key decisions.

This is a role for someone with significant experience of delivering large-scale infrastructure programmes from start to finish, who is comfortable operating in a politically sensitive environment and who can act as a credible client for major public investment. For someone who delivers well here, there is a substantial pipeline and more projects to lead over the longer term.
