Staffordshire Police is at an exciting moment in its organisational journey. The force has refreshed its digital strategy, committed significant investment in technology and built a senior leadership team with genuine ambition for transformation. It was the fourth police force in the world to implement AI around emergency calls, is investing heavily in body and video technology, and is rolling out new digital evidence tools and data analytics capability. The foundations are in place and what’s needed now is someone to drive the digital agenda forward.
The Head of Digital is a newly created role within Staffordshire Police’s Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) service. You will establish the organisation’s digital function from the ground up, identifying and bringing together existing digital talent from across the force into a cohesive team, and providing the strategic leadership needed to move the organisation from a paper-centric way of working to one that is genuinely digitally innovative.
Staffordshire has one of the lowest officer-to-population ratios in the UK, so making the most of digital tools is essential. Transformation here is about how officers serve communities, how the public experiences the force, and how frontline professionals are freed from administrative burden to focus on what matters most. You will lead the modernisation of internal processes, reduce time spent on paperwork, tighten workflows and ensure officers and staff have intuitive, reliable systems.
The force is also exploring the potential of a new ERP system, and the Head of Digital would be instrumental in its implementation if approved. Alongside this, there is significant work underway around AI, digital evidence, Power BI dashboards and wider analytics partnerships, all of which will sit within your remit. This is a role for someone who thrives on building something new.
You will join an open, supportive organisation that is genuinely committed to investing in people and technology, backed by senior leaders who understand what digital can deliver. Decision-making is quick and the culture is agile. For a digital leader driven by real change, this is a rare opportunity.
