Barnsley Council’s vision for 2030 highlights the borough as a place that fosters and grows ambition, enabling everyone to be the best they can be. A key component of this vision is ‘Growing Barnsley’, and knowing that the borough is a great place to invest, where businesses and customers support an economy that benefits everyone.
The Council has already delivered huge programmes such as the Glassworks which have transformed the town centre, and through the approved Local Plan aims to create 22,000 jobs and build 28,000 homes by 2033.
We are currently seeking to appoint a new Service Director for Regeneration and Culture who will help to deliver these aspirations. Managing a wide array of services including regeneration, assets, housing, culture & visitor economy, planning and skills, this is great chance to work for the double award winning council of the year in 2023 and develop your career within a politically stable, supportive and high performing authority. Whilst Barnsley has already changed beyond all recognition (and challenged a lot of preconceptions along the way), the Council knows there is more to achieve as a team and with its partners across the borough, the wider Combined Authority and central government.
So, if you have a background in regeneration, economic growth and place making and are ambitious for yourself and for the communities you serve, we look forward to hearing from you.
