We are proud of our reputation as place leaders and our track record in providing well-run and community-focused services. Our Local Plan is delivering hundreds of new homes a year and construction of a game changing relief road is underway. In recent years we have also attracted significant funding to allow us to regenerate Melton Mowbray town centre, build upon our reputation as the Rural Capital of Food, and support sustainable growth across the borough.
THE ROLE
We are now seeking a new Director for Place and Prosperity to lead the next exciting chapter. You will work with Members, partners, and the senior leadership team to bring fresh impetus to the council and translate our ambition into reality, delivering the many exciting projects we have in the pipeline as well as driving forward our long-term strategic growth ambitions. The role covers planning, asset management, economic development, sustainable growth and environmental health, and it also leads the Council’s place partnerships and the climate change agenda.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the residents and businesses in Melton, join a positive and can-do council recognised as one of the most improved at the 2023 LGC Awards, and work within a supportive and dynamic senior team. Candidates will need a significant track record of success in delivering growth and development projects, accessing funding streams, building strong and productive partnerships, and place shaping to ensure our place and communities can thrive. An understanding of the particular challenges and opportunities a rural authority like Melton is facing would also be highly desirable.
